๐Ÿบ Flavoured beers are taking over at Channel 4๐Ÿบ

What a pleasure to be back on Sunday Brunch this weekend! ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ“บ

This time we were talking flavoured beers.

Drinkers are getting more adventurous, brewers are getting more creative, and there are some properly weird and wonderful beers being made at the moment. So I brought along three very different examples for Tim and Simon to tryโ€ฆ

๐ŸŒถ๏ธ Sunnyside Ginger Beer

Technically not actually a beer, but far too delicious not to include. Made with fresh-pressed ginger, lemon, sugar and spirit. Sweet, sour, fiery and dangerously refreshing.
๐Ÿ”ฅย Fierce Beer โ€“ Iron Brew

Yep, it tastes like that famous Scottish soft drink. A really light, dry beer brewed with Scottish spring water before adding that unmistakable fruity Iron Brew flavour. Crisp, slightly bonkers and surprisingly refreshing.
๐ŸŒฟ Fyne Ales โ€“ ร™ir

And then we went properly down the beer rabbit holeโ€ฆ

A lambic-inspired mixed fermentation beer made with locally foraged pineapple weed and blackberries and around two years in the making.

Instead of relying on a single brewer's yeast, mixed fermentation brings different yeasts and bacteria into play over time, creating an incredibly complex beer. Funky, floral and spicy on the nose with a lovely sherbet character, earthy blackberry and a big, lasting sourness.

A brilliant example of just how interesting beer can get when you give microorganisms, unusual ingredients and a LOT of time to do their thing.

Thanks so much to Sunday Brunch for having me back โ€“ always a pleasure! ๐Ÿป
